The Canadian Chamber of Commerce has prepared an election platform document which takes a look at the policies of the four main political parties with respect to the Canadian Chamber's Game Plan released earlier this month. This grid is now available for use leading up to the election on May 2nd.
All parties made commitments on many of the priorities outlined in the Canadian Chamber’s platform. These include reducing and/or eliminating the federal deficit; managing government spending; taxation; the Canada-U.S. border; SMEs; energy and the environment; improving the workforce participation of seniors and Aboriginal Canadians; transportation infrastructure; and copyright reform.
Do their platforms agree with us on all issues? No. We continue to be struck by the positions of some of the parties that one has to choose between businesses and families. As you know, our view is just the contrary. Canadians’ prosperity and quality of life - including the social programs we hold dear - depend upon the ability of our businesses to be competitive at home and internationally. It’s important that Canada’s businesses have the necessary tools to spur economic growth.
This grid will updated to reflect any new policy announcements by the political parties until May 2.
