Atlantic Lottery Announces President & CEO Departure

The Board of Directors of Atlantic Lottery Corporation announced today that the President & CEO, Michelle Carinci, will be stepping down at the end of March 2011, which coincides with the expiration of her current contract. The Board has asked Brent Scrimshaw, a member of the senior executive team, to assume the role of interim CEO while it begins the process of selecting a permanent replacement for Ms. Carinci. Board Chair Sean O’Connor said during her tenure, Ms. Carinci has strengthened Atlantic Lottery’s position in the gaming industry for the benefit of all Atlantic Provinces. “For 10 years Michelle led the company through times of significant change and challenge, and together we accomplished great things,” said Board Chair Sean O’Connor. “Michelle played a leadership role in a global lottery organization’s focus on responsible gambling and she contributed to the revitalization of the harness racing industry in Prince Edward Island.” “She will be leaving the organization in good shape to continue the good work we do,” said Mr. O’Connor. The Board has appointed Brent Scrimshaw as interim President & CEO as of March 31, 2011. Mr. Scrimshaw has been with Atlantic Lottery for almost five years at the Executive level and is currently Executive Vice President Brands & Channels. He has served in various senior leadership roles at the Canadian Football League, Air Canada Championship PGA Tour, and Molson Canada. Atlantic Lottery is a public corporation owned by the governments of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition to the more than $345 million awarded in prizes last year, Atlantic Lottery also returned 100% of its profits – that’s more than $389 million – to the four Atlantic Provinces.
