National Procurement Strategy – Support Investment in Atlantic Canada

How Can You Support Investment in Atlantic Canada?

Dear Member,

There's a competition happening right now in Canada. Its called the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy, and it will decide which of four Canadian shipyards will earn the work to build the next generation of Canadian naval vessels. The economic impact of this project cannot be overstated: it's huge.

This is a merit based contest and we want Canadians and decision makers in Ottawa to understand three important points:

1. That Nova Scotia and the Atlantic provinces are built to build ships. Irving Shipbuilders have built more than 80% of the surface combat surface fleet. No other yard is better suited to win this bid. We are truly Canada's best shipyard.

2. That if Irving Shipbuilding wins this bid, all of Canada will benefit more than if any other Shipyard were to win. New Brunswick companies will benefit directly through the supply chain.

3. That Canada’s next generation of naval ships should be built by the best Canadian-owned shipyard in Canada – Irving Shipbuilding.

The Saint John Board of Trade has already voiced its support of Irving Shipbuilding’s bid! To view a copy of the news release click here.

Help us spread the word and put Nova Scotia & Atlantic Canada shipbuilding on the map, by visiting http://www.canadianshipsstarthere.ca/ and take action.

Email your contacts - family, friends, co-workers, networks, databases you control - and ask them to do the same.

Share on social media and any websites you control.

Declare your support for the best Canadian ships built by the best: Irving Shipbuilding.

Regards,

Imelda Gilman
President
Saint John Board of Trade
