Invitation: Atlantic Gateway Seminar on Canada's Tax and Tariff Advantages

Transport Canada, in coordination with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Canada Border Services Agency, Canada Revenue Agency, Finance Canada, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, and Western Economic Diversification, would like to invite you to join them on Friday June 25 for a seminar on using Canada's tax and tariff advantages to market to international investors. These benefits include Canada having the lowest statutory corporate income tax rate in the G7 by 2012, being fully recoverable for business and not applying to exports, the elimination of tariffs on a wide range of machinery and equipment and three export-friendly programs that provide advantages similar to those found in foreign trade zones (FTZs) in other countries.

The seminar’s objective is to ensure Atlantic Canada's economic development and business community has the information needed to support business here in Canada and to attract foreign investment. It will feature presentations by subject matter experts on the benefits of Canada's Tax and Duty programs. It will also include an insightful look at the model of CentrePort Canada (an inland port concept located around Winnipeg's J.A. Richardson International Airport); how it all began and lessons learned along the way.

As space is limited, we request that you confirm your participation by Wednesday June 16.

Date: June 25
Time: 9:00 – 12:00
Location: World Trade & Convention Centre, 1800 Argyle St., Halifax, NS. Room 202
