The provincial government and the Saint John Port Authority have reached an agreement-in-principle that will substantially improve Rodney Terminal, located on the city's west side.
Premier Shawn Graham made the announcement during a speech to the cruise industry in Saint John today.
"When completed, this project will make the Port of Saint John an even more attractive location for local and international users," he said. "This enhancement will enable the Port of Saint John to provide even better service. That's great news for the many shipping and trucking companies that depend on the port for business."
The provincial government has agreed to invest $700,000 in a $1.4-million project to replace the asphalt at the port's west-side access road and container terminal entrance. The investment will also be used to replace and refurbish decking, piles and pile caps at Rodney Terminal.
